Since Glide wrappers seem to help our FPS on older machines (and possibly many newer machines and video cards), this may be a fruitful effort on your part. Spent some time on the OpenGL tutorial. Will get back to some questions when I have more time, such as the transforms. It has a practical applic...

Hope you have a knack for sorting out these systems, Syd. For a good 10 years of my working life I hung around programmers (Xenix, a form of Unix at the Santa Cruz Operation and with Telmax, an early developer of telephone line multi-plexing that led to our DSL systems, and even with Seagate and App...

We do need a place to "archive" the Midway upgrade materials, so modders can get them and work on the upgrade. Maybe Moggy can suggest the best solution. Everyone is quite busy with other projects. But we WILL get back to Midway. Wouldn't want to lose the very good work you have done!

Good one. That looks like it might be very helpful to the carrier 3DZ makers and skinners, Mike, for SPAW as well. If someone can figure out how to get the 'numbers' (dimensions) for front, side, and rear locations on the ship's 3DZ, we can probably add the "contrails" as wakes. We need th...

Can you list the "holes" where new action and mods are needed, Moggs? Could some of the material you have ready be made available for work? SPAW has generated a lot of excitement and new developments on sea battles at Coders. Once SPAW is released, the modders may want to try some of their...

No direct reply here...
But I think the SPAW (South Pacific Air War) version of Moggy's CAW, by Rotton50 and team is almost ready for release in August, 2009.
With some hot new carriers and action.

Syd-- As said elsewhere, I must re-install the Microsoft compiler after changing to a new operating system--Windows XP Essentials, which Dumo so kindly provided. Do you have any advice before I un-install my old compiler? I cannot re-install without getting rid of the old one, it seems. My old Windo...

The Tools of the Game

A "TOOLS" thread may be very helpful here. Syd-- I'm reprinting your "stay on the same page" list from the conversation with Maverick, if you don't mind. Your compiler instructions from Coder's may not be available to others here. If corrections are needed, post them and I will e...

I remember once flying over the lip of a mountain range cliff in a small Cessna. We got caught in a down draught and lost 1000ft in a few seconds. There was a pen sitting on my friends lap and it went straight to the roof of the aircraft. At that time I had the same perspiration beads forming on my...

Out of curiousity, how is your 2 or 3- camera "Z" buffer working out? Any transition problems switching from one "camera" view to another? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 3 models of EAW aircraft were an interesting solution to the frame rate problem, like the one you came up wi...

Didn't I read of some ready-made sim code available?
Sorry I don't recall the exact name or link.

Let's say it was "modern" code.
Then you could modify it without having to re-invent it all.
Sorta like we are doing with EAW-- but without being stuck with an outmoded set of algorithms.

Surely Moggy has taken notice of Iron Mike's 24-bit "Zeke" done especially for Midway.

Intriguing research and testing, Syd. Dealing with water fascinates and frustrates. Motion and color are two parts to simulate. Patterning and refraction are two others. The patterning you chose is a very good one. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b49/sydbod/OceanWater.jpg It should be possible to ...

One of the nicest parts of your terrains is the varying heights that make flying interesting, VBH. Looking forward to what will be done for the HM for Japan, Shreck. So far, it seems impressive. Japan's mountains like Fuji and its rich colors will give us new insights to "what might have been&q...
