Re: What's going on at CombatSim?

I've had a look at the site stats now. There was a massive increase in traffic to this board from December last year. Hits went up from some 20k a month to 1.2 million. Monthly number of visits from about 1k to 10k. A great deal of this was over the Christmas holiday itself, and mostly from the US a...

Re: Barbarossa screenies

 That's Shawn "sagginb" Griffin's Euro-512 EAW Terrain v1.0 (D-24 or Darker Tile set-24 bit), first created for EAW 128E. It does work rather well with the mountainous areas. Whisper it quietly, but I may be getting somewhere at last with the slot CTDs. And many thanks for the planes....

Definitive books on Eastern Front air war

When summarising the contributions of the major allies to the second world war, Stalin declared that "the British gave time, the Americans gave money, and the Russians gave blood". This is of course a generalisation; all the allied contributors gave considerable amounts of blood and treasu...

Barbarossa screenies

Some screenies I took today whilst trying to sort out the 1941 Barbarossa scenario in the Italy-Balkans-Ukraine theatre. This was a 110 escort mission for Ju87s: http://mogggy.org/pictures/carp8.jpg http://mogggy.org/pictures/carp7.jpg The route took took the squad through the Carpathians, where the...

Re: Jarod's help post

The Sidewinder should work okay. I used one of those myself.

You can program the buttons using eaw.ini, or simply using the "Configure Game > Control" screen (which amounts to the same thing :)

Re: Jarod's help post

You can post pictures by using BB code. Generally I don't allow attachments here. Or you could send me the screen shot by email. I should warn you that we are getting a "trojan" alert on the "pcsystemfix" link you posted and I have deleted it. Meanwhile, try using different exes ...

Re: How to download, setup and run EAW 1.6 - A few clicks and you're in the air!

I'm assuming that you have been able to start the game and fly.

Can you post a screen of the exact message you get when the game crashes?

Regarding the map command, check the eaw.ini file. There should be a line like this:

PILOT MAP=ALT M

Your setup is much the same as mine!

Re: Moggy's Log January 2024

I do think this problem comes down to the "default airbase" bytes in airfields.dat. In the default setup every airbase is designated either as the default base of a particular aircraft slot, or as the default base of all allied or axis slots. When we move the bases all around with the targ...
