I think the answer is that originally in CAW we were very much thinking of US carrier forces either battling with Japanese carrier forces, or hitting Japanese occupied islands, and in that scenario all the ground targets with the exception of US Naval elements, would in fact all be Japanese, and cle...

Structure of CAW 1944 campaigns

The main problem which seems to confront us in the construction of the campaigns for CAW 1944 is restricting the available targets to those actually relevant to the campaign. We can easily specify the bases from which our campaign squads are operating, but not easily the enemy objects of their atten...

To Kurt - CAW aircraft slots for 1944

In the original CAW slot list we included aircraft for the 1945 British Pacific Fleet. These were Fleet Air Arm versions of the Avenger, Firefly, Seafire, Wildcat, Hellcat and Corsair in the British slots. Clearly we don't need these aircraft for the first 1944 part of CAW. How shall we handle this?...

Hello Pobs, Guessed you'd still be with SAW for a few weeks more. We have the map for CAW 1944 as below ... http://www.mogggy.org/pictures/caw1944.jpg Neira and VonOben have done the tile layout and topography (eaw.tm, eaw.hm and the terrain tiles) for this map. I'm about to set about the target loc...

Kurt - your planes were the heart of the original Midway addon. This project will get done over time, cetainly with no rush or hurry. The new planes package will be the central part of it, but there may be other new things that can be added - CAW will produce new ship models for example, and it may ...

Wonderful stuff Dean, I think the CAW emails were generally going off into the void, which is why I thought this board would be a better way of coordinating the project. Also my memory is crap, so I like to see the stuff set out in a topic list I like the "metallic" approach. I'll post up Kurt's ori...

This is a big project Kurt, and I think we're to need all the help going. All the original CAW group have been notified about this board. Some of those I think are still engaged in SAW. I think we should make a general appeal for assistance, but I think it would be good if the volounteers could work...

I think Kurt is right about the way various Carrier locations could be used, they would all be on the map, but the player would not necessarily notice this, the Pacific is big, and there were a number of US carrier groups in operation. He moves from one location called "USS FlatTop" to another one c...

Kurt - oiler and tent city sound good to me. I'll ammend the list.

geg - Japanese trucks sounds good. Col G/Pobs will let us know if they've already got anything going along those lines. Pobs did the Dunkirk mole, and Toney recycled it for his layout.

Hello Kurt, Yes, I think finding details of the Japanese Squads will be the most difficult. At the moment I'm working my way through the CICPAC communiques for 1944 to establish a basic grid of operations by the various US air forces. Toney will be able to use the details of bases and targets. I'll ...

Good news that Toney has come aboard CAW to assist with laying out target locations. Having seen his recent stuff he was clearly the man for the job.
