Sadly, with the lapse of time, many of the classic EAW websites have been hauled down. However, many of them do have an afterlife in The Wayback Machine's internet archive.

Have a look at Airbuddha's great site The Hangar:

There are pages of skinfiles and other EAW goodies which could be used in EAW 1.2.

Though those direct download links don't seem to work, actually, most of the zip files are in the Internet Archive and you can download them for use in any EAW version from 1.0 to 1.28C, including the Steam and GOG releases, on this link:

Just filter for "zip".

In the alternative you can go to Tally-Ho, where with RAF_Dumoulin's help, Sandbagger has preserved a number of the files:
