The Sidewinder should work okay. I used one of those myself.

You can program the buttons using eaw.ini, or simply using the "Configure Game > Control" screen (which amounts to the same thing :)

Jarod and I are in contact via email. I have sent him a bare-minimum installation which we can use to get his j/s working.
Like you, I also recommended that he only uses the SideWinder for EAW.

I advised him to check the Windows User Account (UAC).
With levels of 0, 1, 2 and 3 it cannot be set to 2 or 3 because they do not let the eaw.exe write to the eaw.ini file.

I've deleted the links to the 129 and 128C downloads. Sorry about that. Mr. Jelly was essentially running out of room on his download sites and needs to concentrate on UAW 1.6.

If you want to try 1.29, I may be able to put together a package for you.

Try this 1.1 GB download: http://mogggy.org/EAW129/UAW129Sept2023.exe

Extract to a new folder which will be the 129 install.

You may need to set up the eaw.ini with your preferred options, and otherwise use the game config screen to install your preferred settings.

Run DSP128-9.exe to choose the exe, and a theatre to fly in.
