One of the great things about 1.6 is the number of different theatres in which you can fly.
These screens are taken from the Spanish Civil War setup.
Fly as Republicans and their Soviet allies, or Nationalists and their German and Italian allies:
Credits to the original team who created this addon: David 'Catseyes' Burchell, Steve 'SteveT' Tennant, David 'Neira' Vidal, Karel Chvojka, Brian 'Pobs' Egan, Leon 'Leon' Widomski, Per 'vonOben' Rasmusson, Kurt 'Captain Kurt' Schwabauer, Isidro 'Alatriste' Ramos Villajos, Jordi 'Stratos' Haro Sancho. and also to Mr.Jelly who has packaged it for 1.6.

1.6 screenshots - Catapault planes from the South Pacific Air War addon
Ray Otton's SPAW, available in the UAW 1.6 download, is very serious peice of EAW work.
It models the air war in the South Pacific islands.
The catapault planes are a particular feature:

1.6 Screenshots - Mediterranean & Desert
In the 1.6 Mediterranean theatre you can fly - using 14 different Med/Desert plane sets 1939-45 - in the Malta, Mediterranean convoy and Western Desert scenarios. (Though actually if the fancy takes you you fly any of the 95 default plane sets in UAW 1.6 in this and any other theatre!)

A raid in the Western Desert
Again thanks to Emil, Mosi and the host of EAW modders who brought this theatre to life originally for EAW 1.2, to all the skinmakers and to Mr. Jelly for setting it up for 1.6.

Re: How to download, setup and run EAW 1.6
I'm about 90% through upgrading the Mediterranean planes to go along with this scenario.
I'm adding individual plane markings, nose art and ID's, converting some planes to hi-res and others getting the enhanced lo-res treatment. Some new hangar screens too.
Also, some flight model fixes, loadout changes and the addition of a few rare models that I've uncovered while doing research.
I already did this to the ETO planes and plan to do so with the Pacific and Eastern Front planes.
Once all the models are upgraded I plan to form new plansets for each scenario that will include many new planes.

That's just great to hear. I'm sure the original Desert/Malta Air War team would be very pleased to see their work continuing to be such an impirtant part of EAW.

1.6 Screenshots - Finland & the USSR
From the heat and sand of the desert to the ice and snow of the Winter Wars. This was Von Oben's terrific project to simulate the struggle between Finland (and its German ally) and the Soviet Union, that war within a war that is too often forgotten:
There are three campaigns in this theatre:
The Winter War: November 30, 1939 - March 13, 1940
The Continuation War: June 25, 1941 - May 8, 1944.
The Summer 1944 Soviet offensive: May 14, 1944 - September 4, 1944.
Credit to those who worked with Von Oben: Edward, FreddyB, Illu, Knegel, Knug, and Neira, and again to Mr. Jelly who packaged it for 1.6.

1.6 Screenshots - Middle East: Iraq 1941
Work on the Middle East/Iraq theatre has been on going and is not yet finished, but Mr Jelly has made a beta package of the the scenario for 1.6. This gives you the Middle East theatre.
The Middle East theatre was principally set up to model the brief Iraq campaign of 1941, which pitched the instructors and students of No.4 Flying training school at Habbiniya with their adapted training aircraft, together with scratch RAF reinfoecements against the Axis allied Iraqi Government and its German and Italian allies.
Thanks in helping to make the middle east thetre go Col Gibbon who made the terrain and a number of the ground objects including the famous Rolls Royce armoured cars of the RAF Regiment, the fort at Rutbah, and the runway layout at Habbaniya, Pobs who made other objects, Flyright, Claudio, Freddy B, Flying Tiger, Jan Tuma, JulioJ, RedEyes, Iron Mike, and Rotton50, amongst others, who had a big hand in the original and later aircraft set, Knegel who did FMs, and Gerry Sames for his detailed work on the Arabic speech pack. Thanks also to Julio Junqueira's for his rather beautiful Iraq Environment files which replace many of the original screens and includes an exquisite main screen and map, and hangar set.

1.6 Screenshots - Carrier Air War 1944-45
Carrier Air War sought to model the US/Japanese carrier battles of 1944 and 1945. The theatre simulates the central Pacific with the Japanese occupied Phillipines to the west, the Caroline Islands including Palau, Yap, and the main Japanese base of Truk to the South, and Japanese administered Marianas including Guam and Tinian to the west.
In between are USN and IJN carriers and task groups that enable the great final carrier battles to be simulated including the Philippine Sea and Leyte Gulf.
Using the various Pacific plane sets created by Rotton 50 many types of single missions can be created including the carrier/carrier battles and attcks on Japanese held land bases.
Credit for this theatre goes to Captain Kurt whose original concept it was and the original CAW Group included Captain Kurt, Moggy, Neira, Von Oben, Pilot Offcer Prune, Charles Gunst, RedEyes, Flyright, Andy, Pobs, VonBeerhofen, SagginB, Col Gibbon, Geo, Dean H, and Rotton50. The basic map was done by Von Oben and Neira, with tile layout and basic target layout done by Moggy. This is another unfinished theatre, so thanks to Mr. Jelly for creating the beta version for UAW 1.6

1.6 Screenshots - Plalestine 1947-48
Long ago there was a Palestine theatre written for EAW 1.2. I got it working for 1.2, and saw some good features that made converting it worthwhile
I have converted it, creating a theatre, a planes folder and a planeset with the original planes. I have fixed a few bugs and omissions.
This theatre is basically Israel vs the rest, so the Israel area is historically confined.
This should lead to several multiplayer ground-start possibilities wink
There are some jets (Meteors and Vampires) which work well, but need careful engine management to avoid damage.
Move the accelerator lever slowly to increase speed or you may blow an engine.
Israel-Palestine is an ideal multiplayer theatre
The black line is the front-line, and Israel is in a very tiny area.
The blue and red dots are targets, with the red ones being airbases too.
As you can see there are many cases where opposing bases are close to each other either side of the front line.
This is ideal for multiplayer ground-start missions with contact being made just a few minutes after take-off smile
Jel
Credit to Redeyes who inspired and did much of the work gathering the plane set for the Palestine 1947+ theatre, and to Gerry Sames who made the Arab speech pack.
With some adjustment of the front line and renaming of bases and locations. RedEyes Palestine scenario was then able to fit nicely into the Mid-Eastern world that we had built for the Iraq and Syria 1941 theatres.
Many thanks to MrJelly for repackaging this for 1.6
